Ritz Brits

It's called the Ritz for a reason.

I Shop, Therefore I Am January 17, 2010

I just discovered Vivre.com and I’ve spent hours looking at absolutely EVERYTHING.  Its extremely unique, and sometimes random collections remind me of an upscale Anthropologie.  Looking through the website is like discovering the exquisite pieces from a lifetime of world travels in an archaeologist’s home.

The collection of jewelry completely blows my mind.  I’ve never seen so many unique pieces.  If you’re stumped for a gift for anyone, this is the place to go.  I also love the home decor section and the library category.  This website is the antidote to a cookie cutter shopping experience.  If standing out from the crowd is your fashion mantra, you’ll be right at home here.

The shop boasts some of my favorite designers, like Matthew Williamson and Aurelie Bidermann.  This is the perfect place to find fun travel items, scarves, unique home accessories, and anything else you might be searching for.

Express Charm NecklaceOne of my favorite new trends is the statement necklace.  I walked past Express and saw this fantastic necklace on a mannequin and immediately fell in love.  If I were a necklace, I would be this one.  Its got the perfect mix of ladylike pearls, tough chains, whimsical silk flowers, bright gems, and delicate gold charms.  It represents every facet of my personality and is appropriate for any mood I’m in.  Alas, the price tag didn’t quite fit into my budget.  I lusted after it even more after I saw it in a magazine and finally went back to the store to get it.  The last one in the store was on the mannequin, and didn’t have a price tag.  I asked about the price, crossing my fingers that it would be on sale.  I could have kissed the guy behind the counter when he fished a price tag out of the mannequin’s bag that was 60% off the original price.  I skipped out of the store ecstatic, clutching my treasure, and its been my favorite necklace ever since.  Anthropologie has a wonderful assortment of statement necklaces as well.  Some of my favorites are shown below.  They are the perfect way to make a white t-shirt look extra special.  I usually mine with a simple top or dress to show them off.

Curvy Wooden Heels December 25, 2009

Kenneth Cole ReactionIt may be my Dutch ancestry, but I’ve fallen head over high heels for the latest take on wooden heels.  They’re a more solid than stilettos, more architectural than wedges, and more glamourous than the clunky heels of the ’70s.  They can polish off a ladylike look with a skirt or dress, or jazz up skinny jeans and a ruffled top.  I asked for the Kenneth Cole Reaction version (left) for Christmas.  I love the gray and brown combo.  You don’t see that often, and its easy to pair with either color.  I also like Anthrolopologie’s Louisa Booties and For Beatrice Slingbacks (below). You don’t need a tulip garden to enjoy these fresh picks!Anthropologie For Beatrice SlingbacksAnthropologie Louisa Booties

Feathers December 13, 2009

Anthroplogie Gold Feather Earrings Feathers in accessories is a huge trend right now, and I’ve found some fantastic pieces.

First up are these gold feather earrings from Anthropologie.  They’re larger than I usually wear, but they really show up and are a funky alternative to hoops that go as well with t-shirts and jeans as they do with dresses.

Aerie Feather Hair Clip

Next up is a Feathered Hair Clip I found at Aerie.  This clip looks gorgeous when my hair is up or down, like Mischa Barton below.  I’ve also clipped it on to a skinny headband for a different look.   Its an easy way to create retro or old Hollywood glamour hairstyles.  The feathers add a special touch, but aren’t too big, so you won’t risk looking like a peacock.
